Night Chapter Four

In chapter four of night, Elie, his father, and the other Jews were transported to Buno, because the Germans wanted to hide what they were doing, and they did not want the Soviet Union, and the rest of the world to find out. The Germans would transport every Jew more into germany, so they could hide what they were doing. When they got to Buno, it looked like it had been through a epidemic, it looked empty and dead, Elie said that he only saw a couple of men walking around. Dentist would look for gold when prisoners had medical check ups. The dentist was looking for gold in each prisoners mouth, dentist would get the gold filling out of the Jew's mouth, so the Germans get some more help in the war effort. When Elie and his father were in the camp, they were sent to work in a warehouse, in the warehouse, they had to count and sort electrical parts. There would be problems when working, because Idek the Kapo was to be feared, because he would get angry and beat the Jews for no reason. When Elie had to get his gold filling out, he had told the dentist that he was not feeling well, and that he could come back next week, he used the same excuse again, and after that week, the dentist was there no more, because he was hanged.

 Elie did not want to get rid of his gold crown because it was the only thing he had left, and later he could give it up to get more food, Elie thinks that it could save his life. When Elie was at the factory, Idek for no reason got into a rage, and started to beat Elie severely that he was bleeding all over. Elie's whole body ached and he can do nothing about it because if he did, he would be punished or killed. A french girl that worked in the factory speaks fluid German, and tells Elie not to cry and to not fight back. The French girl slips a piece of bread for Elie. The French woman was actually Jewish, and had fake papers and was passed as Aryan. There was a man named Franek that wanted Elie's tooth, he would beat up Elie's father, because he did not know how to march in place. Elie then gave the gold crown to Franek, and then two weeks later, Franek was transported to another concentration camp. One day Elie had accidently walked into the wrong room, and had seen Idek with a woman. Idek says that he is going to be punished. Elie and his unit had to go to the warehouse, so they could see Elie be punished. They called Elie's name, and he was big whipped twenty five times. Elie had fainted from the whips, and Idek says that if he does that again to him, then he would whip Elie five times more. If Elie were to get whipped more than twenty five, then he would of died.
