The Punishment

In the beginning of the chapter Elie gets transferred to a new camp called buna, when he enters the camp he only sees a couple of what he calls we’ll dressed men even though they still look terrible. When the get in the camp they get put in the barracks were child trafficking was going on were they would give children food to eat, then they would take them to get sold to someone. Someone wanted to trade food for Elies shoes but he said no because those were the only ones he had left, honestly I would of taken the offer , because I would rather walk around barefoot rather than starve. When they were assigned jobs to do outside of the camp Elie, and his dad got very lucky, because they were put in one of the least hard work job, he got put into a factory were they would dirt electrical parts, but the only bad thing about that place was the German watching over it, since he was bipolar he would hit the Jews when ever he got angry.
One day Elie was walking past him, when the German starts beating him when he stopped he stopped Elie said that his body aches from all over, which meant that all the beating really hurt him, and if i was in his place I would do all that I could to avoid him, because I would not like to get beat. A French girl than helped him with his injuries, and when the war was over they met up, and Elie asked her if she  her if she was jewish, and she said yes. A dentist wanted to see Elie because he had a gold filling in his mouth that he wants to take out for war efforts, but Elie got out of this because the dentist was hanged for stealing fillings, and another person found out he had one, and they beat his dad every day until he agreed to give them his tooth, when he did they took it out with a rusty spoon, which I am surprised did not get infected, because it had rust on it.
After a few days it was a free day for the prisoners, and they were all instructed to go to the factory to try to find something to work on, but while Elie was looking around he saw an officer with a woman, and started laughing, and he got caught, and was whipped 25 times, and if he said anything about it he would get whipped 125 times which Elie would not of survived. Day passed and Elie stayed back to rest from his injuries, and it was time to eat, and sirens went off, and they were instructed to not touch anything, or they would get shot, a man bravely went up to grab soup but he got shot, then they heard bombs go off, and they knew it was Americans planes. When the bombing stopped Elie was relaxed to know that the factory his dad went to work at was not bombed, there was one bomb in the middle of the camp that did not go off, and the prisoners were told to dispose of it outside the camp, and they did with smile on their faces which is pretty unusual considering that they are starving, but I k ow it is because they are happy that help is coming.
