When it was Sunday, everyone had time to rest if they wanted too. The Blockalteste gatherer everyone inside the blocks and the SS took refuge while they were getting everyone inside the blocks. The guards left the watchtowers and the electric current in the barbed wire was cut and the sanding order was that the SS was to shoot anyone found outside the block. The camp had the look of an abandoned ship and no living soul in the alley. Then next to the kitchen there was two cauldrons of hot steaming soup and it had been left untouched and it was in the middle of the road with no one guarding it and a lot of people were looking at the soup. Then they say the door of block 37 open and a man appeared crawling in the direction of the cauldrons. Everyone was watching him and other men were crawling with him and he was the one who dared to go get the soup. Then he reached the first cauldron and he made it and the others were very jealous of him. They never thought to admire him and in his mind, Elies mind, he was already dead. Then for no reason the person who got the soup screamed. Then falling to the ground, his face was stained by the soup and he was still. That was when they all began to hear planes and it was because they were bombing the Buna factory. Yet they did not fear death and there were actually happy that they were going to die. Everyone went outside the block and a bomb had landed in the middle of the camp. Then Elie saw his father and said that several buildings were flattened.
In my opinion I think that the man with the soup had a little courage because he did everything to get the soup and because of this a lot of people fallowed him. Yet I feel bad for him because everyone did not admired him because they knew that he was going to die. I also feel bad for the people who died in the bombing. Also no one feared death at that point and were actually happy that they were going to die and I was surprised that they did not care if they died, but they just wanted this to end already.
