The Selection

Ellie and the beginning of the book that uses sarcasm to show his anger with God he does not want to pray or obey the laws. He also uses rhetorical questions to show his anger against God. Ellie describes himself as ashes because he uses a simile to compare himself to ashes this signifies death on a concentration camp. Death is always near him and he himself is very close to death. Ellie says that man is stronger than God he says this because when humans disobey God God punishes them for their bad choices. However when God abandons them they continue to praise and thank him. during a young Yom Kippur the prisoners abated that whether they should fast or not because fasting could be fatal for them since they don't receive much food. So Ellie refuses to fast so that he does not die of hunger. However later in the book when he starts to his bread he is starting to feel more alone the more he disobeys God. The gifts that Germany gave the prisoners for the new year was that there was going to be another selection yeah. They mostly do this because they need to send more people to come and Tori to conserve supplies and they look for the musulman to kill. The head of Elie's block gave some words of advice to the prisoners and they were to run to make their blood flow to get color in their skin. And that they should keep telling lies so that they don't get sent to come to her. Their friend made a joke because Ellie's number was not written down because he was running so fast that they could not even see his number. The head of the block tell them that they are all going to be okay add that the selection was nothing to worry about. This is all a big lie because if your number was written down and you are maybe heading to the Crematory. he tells everyone they would be okay because he does not want to start a rebellion and he likes the job that he likes because you get extra food this is being selfish.

Several days later some of the prisoners were told that they were not to report to work but what is stead stay in Camp the ones that were told this were the ones whose names were written down at the selection where to stay. The man who where to stay behind for a further selection. However this time if your number was written down again you would head for the Crematory. Elie's father gave him a knife and a spoon before the second selection in case he was killed. That was his only in Heritage because all the things that used to have arrived. However his father passed the second selection and Ellie gave his inheritance to his father back because he knows that he will live for a longer time. Akiba according to at least had total faith in God and none for himself. So at the first moment of doubt in God he had gave up hope and had no longer had the will to live. Ellie says that that was his weakness and that was a reason why he was selected. Aquila asked that they would pray the kaddish for him the prayer for Dad since he was about to die. However they forgot to pray for him because they had very tough work I didn't have time to do so. When the winter came Ellie's leg had a swollen up and he could no longer stand on his leg so she had to go to the nurse. when he was there everything was much more better he would have a heavier soup and sleep in blankets. However there was a risk that the selections were more often because the Germans don't want any sick people. The doctor said you told him that he was going to have to operate him right away so that he could later feel better. The operation was successful but he had to wait two weeks so that he could be fully healed.

  1. Angel, you show both and spiritual and physical consequences on Elie and his father so far in the book: doubt in God, dehumanized, and the growth of selfishness. You also list what literary tools and language he uses to show his frustration and anger at the world, but the blog post was an overall summary of the chapter. Since it was just a summary, and that there was no deeper connection, I think this blog post would have needed more work to be better.
