During the Bus ride to the concentration camp they could not, sit or lie down, and they had to make turns sitting down, and they could also barely, and the lucky one sat next to the windows. They didn't have much food, and whatever food they had left they were saving for the next day, because the next day could be much worse, the first place that they stopped at was called Kaschau, which is on the czechoslovakian border. When they stopped two German soldiers told them if they have any valuables live gold of silver they should give it to them immediately or they would be shot if they were found to have any valuables. After everyone gave all of their valuables to the soldiers, they said that there are eighty of you,and if any of you leave they will be shot.
There was also a woman there who was called Schachter, and she had lost her mind while on the ride, one reason was because, she was separated from her husband, and her other sons, because there was a mistake, and they sent them to the camp earlier than the others, and during the bus ride, she kept yelling "Fire, there's a fire" and this worried many people, and they were waken up during the night because of her screams. Her son that was with her was very worried, and kept telling her that there was no fire, and nothing was there and she kept saying that there was flames huge flames. During the time that they were on the bus the woman kept yelling that there was fire, and people had because so bothered by it that they were trying to knock her out, and Elie sid that these could of lethal, and people were encouraging the others to do it until she stopped, and they did, when they got to auschwitz, and they told the guard that she needed medical attention, and he said just wait, and they will treat her. Some people were allowed, to go to get water for everyone, and when they came back they told the others that it looked nice, and only the young were sent to work, and that families were together, and it looked happy, night came, and the women started yelling again, and this time there was fire, and everyone could smell the scent of burning flesh, and they were ordered to get out of the car, and line up.
Good job on this blog post, Sam. However, this is a summary, and I didn't get to read your opinions or what you thought about the chapter or book. I would suggest to avoid writing a summary for your next post and to write about what you think of the reading/book instead. Besides the post being a summary, you did a good job.
ReplyDeleteGood Job Sam! You did a great job describing what the Elie and the Jews were doing in the train. Also one thing you could of improve on was to add the locations that they stopped. Overall you did a good job describing what was going on in the train with the woman named Schachter with her saying there was flames when there really wasn't. I felt bad that the Jews beat her up so she could be quiet, then later on she was right because of the burning flesh when they arrived to their final destination.
