Overall we have talked about a lot of things for background of Night. I have learned a lot about, Germany, the Holocaust, Hitler, WWI and more. One of the main things I learned that shocked me was much planning went into WWII and the Holocaust by Hitler. One example of this was the planning that went into the concentration camps. Around 12 million people died in concentration camps and during the Holocaust. Hitler had to find out what to do with all of the dead bodies. Hitler decided to burn all of the bodies in a very sad way. While the way Hitler thought about people and the actions he did were unthinkable I’m shocked that he thought about what should happen to the dead bodies. The decision to burn the bodies was also a smart one. If the bodies were just piled up or buried it would have been easy to see the bodies from an aerial view.
The Nazis tried to keep many things a secret. This is one of the reasons why the number of people killed during the Holocaust is still unclear. Also the amount of detail that went into the concentration camps is surprising and honestly kind of scary to me. The fact that the was a orchestra playing music when people would go to the “shower” and how the shower room that was really a gas chamber had drains and other things to make it look like a shower, is just scary to me. The large amount of lying that was going on, how many people didn’t know the truth about what was happening and how long these secrets were being kept is the real scary and sad part to me.
Overall I think that the ideas and the things Hitler did was wrong but I’m shocked by the amount of planning and thought he put into achieving his goal of having the perfect race and other things. The amount of detail he put into making his ideas come true is honestly the most scary part of the whole situation to me. I don’t understand how someone could take the time to have a real conversation and plan out the death of someone to this extent. An example of this is when Hitler wrote a book about all of his plans. Also all of the things Hitler and the Nazis did to keep all of their plans a secret by lying is scary to me. Many people thought they were just going to work and they would be able to work their way out but this is not the case for most people.
I agree with you, I find it very sad what happened to all of the dead bodies, they were burned and never thought of again. I find it sad that they had to pile up on top of one another. I also find it scary how much detail in the concentrations camps were put in. Also, how much killing they got away with in that time period. I find it very terrifying that Hitler and the Nazis kept everything a secret to the best of their ability, and some people didn't know what was going on. Overall, great blog Nyla!
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you. When you say the amount of detail that went into these concentration camps are scary, I honestly think that too. The way they took in consideration and the patience they had. They were well aware of the genocide they were about to commit. Hitler did not rush things and I think that's really scary. The orchestra music gave me an eerie feeling.
ReplyDeleteThe way you talked about how the dead bodies were in view and how disgusting it was to see their deaths and be burnt like that is great. You also bring up a good point about Hitler, though the things he did were evil, he executed them perfectly with such great timing on his side.
ReplyDeleteGood job with your blog post, Nyla. I was very interesting to read and I have t agree with you. It's very scary that Hitler had so much hate inside of him. That he killed millions of innocents just because they were jews or were disable. None of them asked to be that way so it's unfair to kill them. And like you said, it's also scary how he had the courage to write a book and publish it to the public, sad thing is that no one was their to stop him. He lied to the people in Germany and made horrific things with the Jews and undesirables.
